Pepper was a pioneer for women in politics and a true inspiration for me. I was lucky enough to call her my dear friend later on in her life and will always hold her in my heart.

Pepper was such a wonderful person and she did such wonderful things for the town of East Hampton. Clearly, she will be missed.

When I was 7 years old, I met Pepper who lived across the street from me on East High St. Even though she was 14 at the time, we became friends. She encouraged me to become a physical education teacher in later years and I did, teaching for 38 years. I enjoyed working with her in politics and she certainly was a talented and important part of East Hampton. She will be missed. RIP, Pepper
