Thomas A. Brady

Thomas A. Brady of Middle Haddam passed away on Monday, April 13, 2026. The only son of Suzanne (Lessard) and Ronald Brady, he was born October 11, 1959 and was raised with his four sisters in a crowded, happy home on Main Street, East Hampton. Tom spent his childhood playing with the neighborhood kids--baseball on the north side of the house and football on the south side, and watching the Red Sox, Celtics and Giants on TV.

Tom graduated from East Hampton High School in 1977 and earned a BS in accounting from Central Connecticut State College in 1981. After passing the CPA exam, he headed to the West Coast to begin a long career in corporate finance. He worked at Hughes Aircraft for many years before returning to the Northeast to watch his nephews and niece grow up. Tom earned his MBA from the University of Georgia in 1999 and spent the remainder of his career at Pratt & Whitney and then Alstom Power/GE.

He relished the many opportunities for travel that his work gave him, including to Taiwan, Singapore, Shanghai, Beijing, Dubai, Istanbul, Zurich and Amsterdam. He was a sports aficionado and knew baseball statistics like the back of his hand. He was a lifelong, often frustrated fan of the Boston Red Sox. It was fitting that in his final hours, he watched them win one last time. The Celtics of the Larry Bird era were the pinnacle of the NBA—one among many of Tom’s strong sports opinions. He was also a longtime fan of the UConn men’s and women’s basketball teams.

Tom was predeceased by his mother and his sister, Maureen Keaty. He is survived by his father and his sisters CarolSue (husband Bill) Shannon, Patty (husband Joe) Kidd and Deb Battit, his brother-in-law Tony Keaty, nephews EJ (wife Hayley) Shannon, Jack Shannon, Alex (wife Lindsay) Kidd, David Battit and Brady Battit, and niece Molly Kidd. Meeting his great-niece Adelaide Shannon in person, and visiting with her and great-nephew Kieran Shannon on FaceTime, gave him great joy.

The family would like to thank Dr. Adriel Kramer of East Hampton Family Practice, as well as Dr. Susanna Hong and the staff at Connecticut Oncology Group, for their kindness, patience and compassionate care throughout Tom’s difficult journey. We also wish to express our gratitude to MaCyn and Jan of Middlesex Hospice, and to Maribeth. We thank Derek Hyde and Otis Boyles for being Tom’s loyal friends over many years and many distances. We will be forever grateful to Abena, Mariam and Otis, three angels who tended to Tom in his final days and whose gentleness, competence and compassion carried us all to the end.

Tom had been a member of St. Mary’s Church in Portland for many years. A funeral Mass will be held Friday, May 8 at 10 am at St. Mary’s, followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
