Theodore R. ("Ted") Stankiewicz

Theodore R. “Ted” Stankiewicz, 86, of East Hampton and formerly of Colchester, beloved husband of Marie (Maskalik) Stankiewicz passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family on Thursday August 26, 2021. Born July 19, 1935 in Hartford, he was the son of the late Felix and Agatha (Lesick) Stankiewicz.

As a member of the United States Marine Corps, Ted proudly served his country during the Korean War; serving both in active duty with the 5th Brigade and later as an instructor. Ted had completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Hartford, his Master’s Degree at the University of Connecticut, and his PhD in Illinois in 1979. A man passionate about his career in engineering, Ted spent time with several companies including Pratt & Whitney, Chandler Evans, Turbodyne, Sunstrand and finally Norden Systems in Norwalk, CT.

Ted was had active role in the Boy Scouts of America, having served as a cub scout leader for Pack 57 in East Hampton over the course of several years. He also gave freely of his time at St. Patrick’s Church as liturgist, eucharistic minister and sexton.

Ted is survived by his wife Marie, his son Paul Stankiewicz, his sister-in-law and her husband Carol and Marcel Laurent of Granby, and his nephew Christopher Laurent. In addition to his parents, Ted was predeceased by his two sisters Irene Harasimowitz, and Barbara Brainerd.

Friends may call at the Spencer Funeral Home 112 Main St. East Hampton on Tuesday Aug. 31st from 5:00PM until 7:00PM. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11:00AM in St. Patrick Church West High St. East Hampton. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
