Theodore W. Hintz, 84, of Middle Haddam, CT beloved husband of Gail (Butler) Hintz passed away Thursday November 7th at his home. Born October 9, 1940, in New Haven, he was the son of the late Theodore and Emma (Liedke) Hintz. Ted was raised in Northford, CT, attended North Haven High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He received his bachelor’s degree from Wagner College and became a CPA. He started his own accounting practice in Portland in 1977, which he ran until his retirement in 2006. Ted was an active member and past President of the East Hampton Rotary Club, a member of the American Legion Post in East Hampton, and a member of the VFW 5095 in East Hampton. Ted was an avid gardener and golfer, who played in the East Hampton Men’s Golf League for over thirty years. He met the love of his life Gail in Middletown, CT 1966. They married in 1967 and spent 57 years together full of love, laughter, and family. Ted is survived by his wife and their four children: Coleen Duffy and husband Richard of Cromwell, Theodore W. Hintz Jr. and wife Shannon of Middle Haddam, Karen Lee and husband Kenneth of East Hampton and Barry Hintz and wife Esleen of Virginia. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren Sean, Cailin, Erin, Brady, Gretchen, Eva, Abigail, Conor, Caden, and Trevor, and brothers Richard Hintz of Wallingford and Paul Hintz and wife Joyce of Naples, FL, sister Elizabeth Siena and husband Ronald of Northford, and many beloved nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Friends may call at the Spencer Funeral Home 112 Main St. East Hampton on Wednesday November 13th from 5:00PM until 8:00PM. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday November 14th at 11:00AM in St. Patrick Church in East Hampton. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.
