Sherry Anne Fleming

Sherry Anne Fleming, 78, of East Hampton, beloved wife of Robert Fleming passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Born Sept. 13, 1946 in Pawtucket, RI , she was the daughter of the late Elden and Dorothy (Rickey) Briggs. Sherry had worked as an administrative assistant in the manufacturing industry until her illness. She was a member of the Marlborough Congregational Church in Marlborough, CT. Besides her husband Robert she is survived by her son Scott Wentworth of Plainville, CT, daughter Rhonda Verburg Wentworth of Michigan, step son Todd Wentworth of Plainville, CT, brother George Howe of VT, sister Terry Perrelli of Plainville, three grandchildren Jaxson Wentworth, Nicholas Stokes and Zackary Verburg. She was predeceased by two grandchildren Tyler and Olivia Wentworth.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             Never one to sit still, prior to her illness Sherry’s life was full of activity and adventure. Most days she could be found at the gym early mornings to exercise before going to work. She completed four marathons, including the Marine Corp Marathon in Washington, DC in 1989. Running with members of the Marine Corp, Sherry achieved her goal of completing a marathon in under four hours. During the winter she could be found cross country skiing in Vermont and New Hampshire. In the summer, she was the best First Mate to her husband, Bob, on the many trips they sailed in their boat, Allegro, to Block Island. Sherry will be remembered to all who knew her as a loving wife, wonderful mother and grandmother, and dear friend to so many who were drawn in by her beautiful blue eyes, ever present smile, and loving heart.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   A memorial service will be held Saturday Nov. 9th at 11AM in the Marlborough Congregational Church 35 S. Main St. Marlborough, CT. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Sherry's memory to Middlesex Health Hospice Care.
