Russell grew up in East Hampton where he met his wife of 42 years, Cheryl. As a teenager he spent most of his time working on a variety of hotrod and muscle cars. After high school, he went to work for Electric Boat, graduating first in his class becoming certified in many different welding specialties. In 1988, he then went on to become the owner and operator of RTM Contracting. He was a skilled carpenter by trade. While enjoying watching his two sons grow up, he volunteered as a coach for youth baseball and soccer then becoming the “Pit Man” while they shifted gears into many years of dirt bike racing. He had a passion for fishing in Long Island Sound, spending many nights out on the water as well as taking afternoon truck rides with his dog Major.
Besides his wife Cheryl, he is survived by his two sons and their wives Russell and Kylie Morris Jr. of Colchester, Steven and Nikki Morris of Colchester, his mother-in-law Anna Marie Bennett of East Hampton, his father-in-law Gilbert (Anne) Bennett of FL, and his four beloved grandchildren Blake, Adalyn, Aiden and Piper.
