We sadly announce the passing of Robert Perry Ulrich of Marlborough CT. Robert was born March 5, 1939, and died peacefully on March 16, 2022, of a lengthy battle with lung and heart disease. He spent his childhood in West Haven CT, where he thrived as an avid athlete at West Haven High School. He then joined the Marines. Hooray! Robert was born to Mildred (Perry) and Herbert Ulrich.
He is predeceased by his parents and sister Joan. Robert is survived by his life partner Joanne Hooper of seventeen years.
He was also survived by his eldest son Dean and his wife Marianne of Bluffton, SC. His daughter Pamela and her husband Mark Fois of Oxford, CT. His youngest son Todd and wife Vanessa of Hollis, NH. His stepdaughter Meredith Wolfrom of Melrose, MA. His stepson Matthew Gasper and wife Debra of Granger, IN.
Robert is also survived by his grandchildren Kaitlyn and her husband Kenneth Long of Reddington, CT. Nicholas and his wife Brittany of Charlotte, SC., Courtney Ulrich of Brooklyn NY., McKenna Belury and her partner Nicholas Barrone of Seymour, CT. Dana Ulrich of San Diego, California, Daniella Fois of Mamaroneck, NY, and Stephanie (Fois) and her husband Andrew McCallister of Washington, DC., Sienna and Ayla Wolfrom of Melrose, MA. Madelyn and Rose Gasper of Granger, IN. Robert is also survived by his great-grandchildren Henry, Jacob and Max Long, Kelly Ulrich of Charlotte, SC,
Robert worked in manufacturing for 40 years until he retired and passionately was the family genealogist, which he leaves behind an extensive legacy of a rich history.
Robert was an active member of various organizations such as the Mayflower Society, the Scottish Rites of Newington, CT, VKVSW Association, the Shriners organization where he volunteered to bring young children and families to the Shriners Hospital in Springfield, MA. He was also a 32-degree Mason.
He was an active member of the Marlborough Congregational Church. He belonged to several church groups that supported giving back to the community.
Robert was an avid athlete playing softball and football. He was also an avid golfer and hiker all his life. He also crewed on sail boats in CT and FL. Robert led a highly active life.
Calling hours will be held June 9th from 5-7pm in the Spencer Funeral Home 112 Main St. East Hampton. A private funeral will be held the next day.
