Richard W. Schmidt

Richard W. Schmidt, 82, of East Hampton, widower of the late Nancy Schmidt passed away at Cobalt Lodge Healthcare on Saturday February 18, 2023. Born Feb. 29, 1940 in Hartford, he was the son of the late William and Alice Schmidt. Richard grew up in Hartford and had moved to East Hampton in 1969. Richard served his country in the U.S. Army and was retired from Aetna Insurance Co. where he had been a life insurance director. He enjoyed coaching Little League and was an avid UCONN Basketball fan as well as the New York Yankees and the NY Giants. He is survived by his two sons Daniel Schmidt of East Hampton, Todd Schmidt and wife Patricia of East Hampton, brother Michael Schmidt of East Hartford, and his two granddaughters Alexa and Lauren Schmidt. He was predeceased by his two sons Timothy and Jeffrey and his brother William Schmidt. A Graveside service will be held Thursday February 23th at 1:00PM in St. Patrick Cemetery in East Hampton.
