Richard Joseph Cummings, 57, of Soldotna Alaska and formerly of East Hampton and Portland, husband of Cheryl (Garrett) Cummings passed away suddenly on Jan. 9, 2023 at Hartford Hospital. Born Sept. 13, 1964 in Barre, VT he was the son of Diane (Gabrie) Amidon of FL and the late Richard Cummings. Richard graduated from Portland High School where he was a state champion wrestler. Richard worked as a Structural Welder in Alaska, where he loved to hunt and fish. He also had a passion for his dogs and cats which included Giblet, Dozer, Missy, Mom Cat, Jersey, Lunch Box, Rover, Vinny and Marmaduke. Besides his mother and wife he is survived by his sister Diane Cronin of Alaska, several nieces and nephews and his loving extended family. He was predeceased by his brother Bradford Cummings, and three sisters Sue Ann Cummings, Cedra Dawson and Laurie Ely. Friends may call at the Spencer Funeral Home 112 Main St. East Hampton on Friday January 20th from 4:00PM until 7:00PM. Burial will be in the family plot in Lake View Cemetery on Saturday Jan. 21st at 11:00AM. In lieu of Flowers memorial donations may be made to CT Humane Society at www.cthumane.org.
