Philip Charles Barth, affectionately known as Phil, Dad, Papa, Papa Grande, Papa Phil, and Uncle Phil, passed away on April 10th, 2026, at the age of 83, surrounded by the love of his family.
Phil was born in Leominster, MA, on February 9th, 1943, the son of Robert M. Barth and Elouise (Driscoll) Barth of Fitchburg, MA. He graduated from Fitchburg State in 1968 and taught in the Littleton School system for about 10 years before moving to Northport, NY. For the next 20 years, Phil and Sharon (Colburn) Barth raised their two children, Emily (husband Ben) and Clinton (wife Jennifer), while Phil ran the family business, Price-Driscoll Corporation, founded by his father in 1943.
Phil deeply loved being a father, and that love grew when he became the proud grandfather of five beautiful grandchildren, Nicco Valentino, Alex Valentino, Zoe Valentino, Charlotte Barth, and Beau Barth. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Barth.
About 30 years ago, Phil relocated Price-Driscoll Corporation to Waterford, CT, where he reconnected with Mary Mazur. Together, they built a loving life and blended family that included Mary’s four children: Meredith Mazur, Jennifer Mazur, Kristine Ferriter (husband Mark), and James Mazur (wife Catherine), as well as 5 additional grandchildren, Baptiste Mazur, Anna Ferriter, Maxence Mazur, Astrid Vargas-Mazur, and Thomas Ferriter.
Phil enjoyed skiing, scuba diving, and was a Red Cross Lifeguard and swim instructor. He was happiest when he was sailing his boat, This is It!, on Long Island Sound, or spending time with his grandchildren. He and Mary shared countless special moments with them, including feeding the deer, riding around on the John Deere Tractor, caring for the Koi Pond, and visiting the Mystic Aquarium, the Connecticut Science Center, and the Austin Zoo.
He and Mary also loved walking woodland trails with their beloved dog, Gracie, enjoying summer concerts and picnics by the Connecticut River, attending performances at the Goodspeed Opera House and Ivory Playhouse, and spending peaceful hours by the ocean. They also shared a love of travel and made many treasured memories together, visiting places such as the Grand Cayman Islands, the U.S. and British Virgin Islands, England, Switzerland, and Alaska, as well as taking river cruises on the Mississippi and Columbia Rivers.
Phil was an enthusiastic member of the Hamburg Cove Yacht Club, Hadlyme Hall, Hadlyme North School, and the East Haddam Historical Society, among other organizations.
