Peter Arcidiacono Obituary

Peter J. Arcidiacono, 92, passed away Sunday January 19, 2025 after a brief illness. Peter was the son of the late Michael Arcidiacono and Helen Pomfret Arcidiacono. He was married to Joan Pigeon of Meriden for 53 years prior to her death in 2010. They leave three children: Steven Arcidiacono and his wife Christine, Karen and her husband Steven DiGiro, and David Arcidiacono and his wife Michelle. They also leave 8 grandchildren: Christopher, Matthew and his wife Kierstyn, Paul, John, Danielle, Drew, Elyse, and Grant. They also leave 3 great grandchildren. Peter is also survived by Gail Lutton whom he married in 2014 and her 3 children: Kenneth, Julie, Linda and her husband Tom, and their daughter, Caitlin. Peter was predeceased by his brother Michael and brother-in-law Joseph.  He is survived by his sisters, Elizabeth, Virginia, Mary and sisters-in-law Nancy and Laura

 Peter was a graduate of Middletown High School and Massachusetts Institute of Technology receiving Bachelor and Master of Science Degrees in Aeronautical Engineering. He spent 35 years working in the helicopter field for United Technologies Corporation. He spent 17 years at United Technologies Research Center reaching the position of Manager of Aerodynamics. He then transferred to Sikorsky Division of United Technologies. While at Sikorsky he held various positions including, Chief of Dynamics, Rotor Section Head, Manager of Aeromechanics, LHX Technologies Manager, and Advanced Technology Manager. While at Sikorsky, he was a recipient of the UTC George Mead Medal award. He was a lifelong member of the American Helicopter Society, authoring numerous technical papers and receiving an Honorary Fellow award.

 Peter was active member of St Patrick Roman Catholic Church of East Hampton since 1960. He served as Parish Council member, Eucharistic Minister and religious education instructor. He was also active in the Cornerstone Prayer Group, Marriage Encounter and Engaged Couple programs, and several Bible Study groups. For many years he brought the Eucharist to the patients at Cobalt Lodge and more recently to the residents of Westside with his wife Gail.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Church, 47 West High St, East Hampton, CT followed by burial at the St. Patrick Cemetery. Family and friends may call prior to the Mass on Saturday January 25 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 at Spencer Funeral Home, 112 Main St, East Hampton, CT.
