Maureen A. (Yuskas) Gower, 77, of East Hampton, formerly of Durham and Waterbury, beloved wife of Wayne A. Gower, passed away on Wednesday, July 31st, at Middlesex Hospital after complications from a recent cancer diagnosis.
Maureen was born on Nov. 5, 1946, in Waterbury. She was the daughter of the late John and Adele (Mazaika) Yuskas. She graduated from Waterbury Catholic High, class of 1964, and then attended New Haven College, where she met her loving husband, Wayne.
Besides her husband Wayne she is survived by her three daughters Jennifer Iovino (Jeff) of Medfield, MA, Jessica Capece (James) of Pottstown, PA, Joanna Bodner (Brian) of Madison, CT, her brother Richard Yuskas of Stuart, FL, and her nine beloved grandchildren, James Jr. Juliana, Jocelyn, Jack, Jordan, Ella, Peyton, Jake and Drew.
Maureen worked many years managing dental and medical practices. She recently retired as a practice manager at Middlesex Ob/Gyn. She enjoyed traveling, especially visiting with close friends, spending time on the beach, reading, gardening, and volunteering at Sumner Brook Farm. She was a dedicated UCONN Women’s Basketball fan. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She spent much of her time attending their many school and sporting events.
There will be no calling hours. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, Aug. 16, 2024, at 10 a.m. at St. John of the Cross, 1263 West St. Middlebury, CT. There will be no Christian burial following. At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (givenow.lls.org).
