Mary Jane Quinn Obituary

Mary Jane (Scudder) Quinn, beloved wife of the late James E. Quinn, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at her cherished summer home on Bashan Lake in East Haddam, surrounded by her loving family. She was 94 years old.

Jane was born on February 1, 1931, in Newton, NJ, the daughter of the late John S. and Esther (Pearson) Scudder. She grew up along the shores of Lake Mohawk in Sussex County, New Jersey—a place she held dear to her heart.

A graduate of Newton High School, Jane formed deep, lifelong friendships that endured through every season of life. She pursued her passion for fashion and design at the Laboratory Institute of Merchandising in New York City.

In 1950, Jane met Jim, the love of her life, on a blind date. They were married a year later at Lake Mohawk and spent 52 devoted years together. Their journey began in Middletown, NJ, and continued through many cities—Bucks County, PA; Richmond, VA; Albuquerque, NM; Sewickley. PA; Wilmington, DE—before finally settling in Middle Haddam, CT, in 1979. Jane embraced each move as a chance to explore new places, meet new people, and make lasting memories.

Throughout her life, Jane touched countless lives with her warmth, kindness, and generosity. Whether through a kind word, a heartfelt story, or a beautiful song, she brought joy and comfort to those around her. She shared her love of music, art, and nature with her children and grandchildren, leaving a legacy of creativity and compassion.

She will be deeply missed by her loving children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren: Mark (Gaye), Kathleen (Mac); Jessica, Alexandra; Shilo, Tiffany, Stephanie (Mikey); Billie, Wally; Colleen (Smeraldo), Jamie (Jackie), James; Erin (Rick); Rob; Dylan, Lili; Tim (Mary); Ryan (Allison), Charlotte (Itic); Chris (Tayne); Katie (Cal), Connor (Katie), Erin (William), John, Brandon; Tara; Megan, Michael; Kerry (Troy); Elizabeth (Joel); Kiko, Natalie, Casey, Ian (Emma), Jackson; Jeff (Judy); Shannon (Shakey). She is also remembered fondly by many loving nieces and nephews.

Jane was predeceased by her siblings Harry, Ronnie (Toni) Winnie (Doug); her brother-in-law Jack and his wife Connie; and her sister-in-law Jeannine.
