Mary Lawlor (Lonergan) Green died Thursday September 22, 2022, in Marlborough after a long illness. She was 84 years old. She was born the daughter of Francis A. Lonergan and Mary (Hall) Lonergan at St. Francis Hospital on March 30, 1938 and lived in Hartford until age 13 when the family moved to Marlborough. While residing in Hartford, she and her parents survived the Circus Fire of 1944. She attended East Hampton schools beginning in 8th grade and was a 1956 graduate of East Hampton high School. After graduation Mary attended the Hart School of Music in Hartford. On May 20, 1961, she married Norman E. Green also of Marlborough. After briefly residing in Windsor Locks, she moved with her husband and young daughter to Tolland in 1962. Her son, Robert was born in 1964. During her time in Tolland, Mary was active in the education of her children and the life of the community, making many friends along the way. In 2000, Mary returned to Marlborough to care for her mother and lived there for the remainder of her life. Mary will be remembered for her work at the Marlborough Senior Center, her love of life, sense of humor, bright mind and passionate care of animals, both domestic and wildlife. She was predeceased by her parents and husband. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Green of New Haven and son Robert B. Green of Tolland. The family wishes to give special thanks to the management and staff of By The River residential care facility in Marlborough for the wonderful care she received during the final years of her life. Friends may call at the Spencer Funeral Home 112 Main St. East Hampton on Thursday Oct. 6th from 5:00PM until 7:00PM. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday Oct. 7th at 10:00AM in St. Patrick Church in East Hampton with burial to follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.
