Mary Boyce Obituary

Mary Jane (Richards) Boyce, 90, of East Hampton, widow of the late Richard Boyce passed away on Monday July 15th at Middlesex Hospital Hospice. Born Feb. 4, 1934 in Portland, CT, she was the daughter of the late Austin and Ethel (Smith) Richards. Mary Jane was a lifelong resident of the Portland/East Hampton area. She had worked as a secretary in the construction industry before her retirement. Mary Jane and her husband Richard fostered many children over the years and she remained close with several of them still. She was a member of the East Hampton VFW Post, the Moodus American Legion, Middletown Falcons, and the Marlborough Moose Lodge. She is survived by her daughter Brandie Nelson of Cobalt, her sister Ruth Wells of VA, four grandchildren Tina Varni, Richard Boyce, Melissa Jones, Coleen Jacobson, and 10 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter Dorinda Judson, her brother Robert and sisters Fran, Millie, Austina and her granddaughter Jennifer France. Friends may call at the Spencer Funeral Home 112 Main St. East Hampton on Sunday July 21st from 4PM until 6PM. Funeral service will be held Monday July 22nd at 11AM in the Funeral Home followed by burial in the family plot in Union Hill Cemetery in Middle Haddam.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the East Hampton VFW Post 5095 or the Middlesex Hospital Hospice Unit c/o Department of Philanthropy 55 Crescent St Middletown, CT 06457.
