Lucia Almeida Obituary

Lύcia Maria Da Conceição Martins De Almeida, 48, loving wife of Francis (Frank) Alfred Darrow, of East Haddam CT, died peacefully on August 13, 2021 in her home surrounded by her family.

Lúcia was predeceased in death by her mother Albertina Da Conceiçã. She is survived by her loving husband Frank; father Herminio Martins De Almeida; brother Jorge Almeida and his wife Richie; brother Daniel Almeida and his wife Meaghan; her two nephews Mason and Wheeler; along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Lúcia (Lúci) was born in Anadia, Portugal on May 13th, 1973. At two months old, Lúcia and her parents moved from Portugal to Jamaica Queens, NY. A graduate of SUNY Potsdam, Lúci worked as a nanny for several families for years, maintaining close relationships with those children into adulthood.

Lúci and Frank were married on August 11th 2007 at St. Bridget of Kildare Church in Moodus, CT which was followed by a unique and still memorable reception held at their home. Together they spent 14 years traveling, camping, boating, rescuing dogs and enjoying the outdoors wherever they went. Lúci especially enjoyed spending time with her nephews, Mason and Wheeler whom she adored.

Lúci loved surrounding herself with friends and family.  She was proud to host holiday parties at her home year after year. A self-taught and talented woodworker, she enjoyed creating beautiful, unique pieces that she joyfully shared with her family, friends and sold her work at local retail stores in CT.
