Louis (Lou) A. Carillo Jr. of East Hampton, CT departed peacefully on August 24, 2025. Born on October 20, 1947 in Torrington, CT, he was 77 years old.

Lou graduated from Torrington High School with the class of 1965 and enlisted with the United States Army in 1966. He served in Vietnam with the 4th Infantry Division in the central highlands of Pleiku and the 1968 TET Offensive.

Upon his return, Lou graduated from Northwestern Community College in 1971 and New Britain General Hospital School of Respiratory Therapy in 1972. He retired, after 41 years, from the Hartford Hospital Cardiac Lab as a Cardiovascular Technician.

Lou was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 5095 in East Hampton, CT where he served as past Commander, Adjutant, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Department of Connecticut State Surgeon.

His greatest joy was spending summers boating on the Connecticut River with his family and going for long walks with his best friend “Willow.”

Lou is survived by his former wife, Winifred Carillo (Dayton), his two daughters Jackie Martin (Carillo) and Chatham Carillo, his son, Mason Carillo and his wife Lindsay Carillo (Bobzin), his two grandchildren, Zoe Martin and Xavier Carillo, as well as his sister and two brothers, Carol, David and Roger.

“Whenever you see a rainbow, think of me with a smile. Every day after Vietnam was a gift, it's been a good life.” - Louis A. Carillo, Jr.

Per his request, there will be no calling hours. A service, with military honors, will be held at the CT State Veterans Cemetery on Friday Sept. 19th at 12 noon.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family asks that a donation, in Lou’s name, be made to a local animal rescue or shelter in honor of his love for all dogs big and small. To leave online condolences please visit www.spencerfuneralhomeinc.com.
