Linda A. Purple (Havelevitch), 64, of Portland, CT passed away on Tuesday October 22nd from Alzheimer’s disease. Linda was born September 2, 1960 in Plainville, CT and was the daughter of the late Pauline and Edward Havelevitch. Linda graduated from Plainville High School and received her Associates Degree from Briarwood College.
Prior to her retirement in 2012, she was employed at Aetna Life & Casualty and the Travelers Insurance Company where she was a manager in their National Accounts Department.
Linda loved playing golf with her good friends at Glastonbury Hills Country Club, enjoying the winter months skiing at Stratton, VT with her husband John when they weren’t spending some time in Venice, Florida. She also enjoyed summers at the island on Lake Pocotopaug in East Hampton with family and friends. Another of her favorite times was attending weekly Mass and singing at St. Peter Claver in West Hartford and most recently at St. Mary’s Church in Portland, CT.
She is survived by her husband John; son Bryan Harris and his wife Gina (Carobini) of Gambrills, MD; daughter Lauren Purple-Sales and her husband Shawn of Simsbury, CT; her four grandchildren: Eli, Gavin, Mikayla and Tanner; her sister Rose Marie Dugas (Havelevitch) and her husband Harvey; brother Stephen Havelevitch and his friend Therese Cardino; and brother-in-law David Purple and his wife Krystyna and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents and brother Bruce Havelevitch.
Friends and family may call at Spencer Funeral Home at 112 Main Street in East Hampton from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Monday October 28th. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Church at 45 Freestone Avenue in Portland, CT on Tuesday October 29th at 10:00 AM. Burial will be held privately with her family.
