Lawrence Reid Kimball, 76, of East Hampton, beloved husband of Dianne (Dayhuff) Kimball, passed away Friday Aug. 2 in hospice care at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born Dec. 27, 1947, in Akron, Ohio, he was the son of the late Ralph Hanscom and Mildred Jean (Reid) Kimball. Lawrence grew up in Ohio, graduating from Ohio State University and University of Dayton with several degrees in aeronautical and mechanical engineering and business administration. He worked for Owens-Corning Fiberglas in Ohio before moving to Meriden, CT, in 1987 to join Sikorsky Aircraft. Lawrence worked for a joint venture, DOW-UT, in Wallingford, and then joined Pratt & Whitney. Lawrence and Dianne retired to East Hampton 16 years ago. Besides his wife Dianne, he is survived by his son Reid William Kimball and his wife, Faith, of MA; his daughter, Sara Graziosa, and her husband, John, of Wallingford; his brother Dennis Robert Kimball and his wife, Carol, of OH; and his five grandchildren: William Dayhuff, Craig Patrick, and Robert Lawrence Kimball and Lily Rose and Violet Belle Graziosa. Burial services will be held Saturday, August 17 in Newark, Ohio where his ancestors are buried. A celebration of life will be held later in September at his Laurel Ridge community to remember the man who loved to kayak Lake Pocotopaug and walk the beaches of Nantucket and Sanibel.
