Karl Blish Obituary

Karl Blish, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, passed away on August 8, 2024, in Titusville, FL. Born on October 23, 1961, Karl grew up in Marlborough, CT, and attended RHAM High School.

Karl was a devoted father to Megan (Jeff) and a proud grandfather to Wynter. He was a cherished brother to David (Lyne), Jon (Lynne), and Christopher (Jason), and a loving uncle to Jasmine (Anthony) and Brandy (Don), he also shared a special bound with our Uncle Mike Martucci, we called them the 'Odd Couple". He was predeceased by his father Allan Blish, his mother Joyce Blish, Martha Blish, Sharon Savage, and his brother Paul Goulding.

Karl lived life on his own terms, much like his father. He created his own journey, whether it was hanging out at Foley’s, the pond on Blish Road, or the Viaduct in Colchester during his youth in Marlborough. Later, he moved to Florida, where he built a successful career as a superior painter and enjoyed his passion for slot machines. Karl could often be found on the boats or heading to Biloxi, always hoping to win big.

Karl’s life motto was “I’ll do it my way,” and he truly embodied that spirit throughout his life.

“Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea…”
— Alfred Lord Tennyson, Crossing the Bar

Karl’s journey was one of adventure, resilience, and love. He lived with a spirit that was unyielding and a heart that was full. His legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him, reminding us all to live life on our own terms and cherish every moment.

May his memory be a guiding light, and may we find comfort in knowing that he is at peace, sailing towards new horizons.

Karl’s life was a testament to the power of living authentically and embracing every moment. His adventurous spirit and unwavering determination left an indelible mark on everyone he met. From his early days in Marlborough to his vibrant life in Florida, Karl’s story is one of passion, resilience, and love.

As we remember Karl, let’s celebrate the joy he brought into our lives and the lessons he taught us about living fully and fearlessly. His memory will forever be a beacon of light, guiding us through our own journeys.

A celebration of Karl’s life will be held October 19th at 11AM at Marlborough Cemetery, followed by a reception at The American Legion. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your favorite charity in Karl’s memory.
