Joseph Henry Newbauer, 92, of East Hampton, widower of the late Joyce (Bodner) Newbauer passed away peacefully on Monday Feb. 24th at the Water’s Edge Center in Middletown. Born Aug. 22, 1932 in Bridgeport he was the son of the late William and Esther (Judge) Newbauer. Joseph proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, attaining the rank of Sergeant. Joe had worked in sales in the printing industry before his retirement. Joseph and Joyce had lived in Fairfield before moving to East Hampton in 2013. Joseph is survived by his daughter Jill Hernandez and her husband Mario of Portland, his son Jeffrey Newbauer and his companion Charlotte of Alaska, his sister-in-law Anita Newbauer of Stratford and his two beloved grandchildren Emilie and Matthew. He was predeceased by his three brothers William, Eugene and Raymond and his two sisters Marjorie Costello and Arlene Monahan. Friends may call at the Spencer Funeral Home 112 Main St. East Hampton on Friday Feb.28th from 4:00PM until 6:00PM. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday March 1st at 11:00AM in St. John Paul II Parish Church of St. Patrick 47 West High St. East Hampton. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. John Paul II School 87 South Main St. Middletown, CT 06457.
