John Frederick Riley

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of John Frederick Riley, who passed peacefully at his home on Nov. 22, 2025 surrounded by his family.

John was born March 4th, 1942 to Richard and Jean Riley. John was the middle child with an older and younger sister, Pat and Sue. They loved him in life and will miss him dearly in death.

John served his country in the Navy and Reserves for 5 years and during that time he met the love of his life and future wife, Linda L. LaRochelle. They spent over 40 years together and even in passing in 2004 John continued to love his wife as much as the day they were married. He never remarried, always looking forward to the day they would be together again.

John worked for more than 32 years at Pratt & Whitney and retired in the early 90’s.

In 1982 he and Linda were invited to stay at their close friends summer cottage in Phippsburg, Maine. They fell in love with the town and the people and from that moment until 2019 John spent every summer at the cottage, he and Linda purchased together in that small Maine town. They made friends with people that became family to both of them.

John and Linda’s Phippsburg family was an intricate part of their lives and will forever be their daughter’s family too.

John leaves behind his daughter, Darcy and grandchildren Joshua and Emily (of whom he is so incredibly proud), his sister’s Pat and Sue, nephew David and nieces Karen and Debbie.

There will be a private memorial for John at the discretion of the family to be held in memory of John in both Connecticut and Maine.
