Jean Descy Obituary

Jean Descy (Gagnon), of Marlborough, widow of William J. Descy, the love of her life, passed away on September 6, 2024. She is now reunited with her devoted husband.

Born in Hartford, Ct. the daughter of the late Romeo and Katherine (Novak) Gagnon.

Jean graduated from RHAM High School in 1958.  She worked for Traveler’s Insurance Co. for a short time and then began a 30 year career at Pratt & Whitney.  She was the recipient of several awards for exemplary performance and dedicated service. Jean will be remembered by her co-workers and staff for her unselfish work ethic and modest leadership style. She was a mentor to many.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Bill in 2016 after 55 wonderful years together. Jean, along with her husband, devoted a good part of their married life caring for her mom and dad. Jean was a loving, kind and generous woman who was very hospitable and always welcoming to all who came to visit her home, whether by offering something to drink, a meal or special treats. She especially enjoyed hosting family holiday celebrations. She loved  people but especially her family and friends. Jean never wished for anything more than peace on Earth and expected the best from the people she loved. She loved to read, her gardens, bird watching and the beach. She and her husband enjoyed taking vacations in Cape Cod, Pennsylvania, Ft. Myers and  Bellaire Beach Fl. Fort Myers Beach held a special place in her heart.

 We know that she will stroll along the shores of all the oceans of the Heavens with a peaceful smile, and sunshine in her heart as she joins in with the hearts and  souls of her husband Bill as well as loved ones gone before her.

.Jean is survived by the “Campbells’ her daughter, Michelle, son in law, Scott and  granddaughter, Heather, all of Marlborough. Also several nieces and nephews as well as many friends and extended family. She was Mema to her one granddaughter. Trips to New York City with Heather to attend Broadway shows always brought her great joy.

In addition to her parents, and husband, Jean was predeceased by her sister Lillian Swaney of Old Lyme. A  heartfelt thanks to Martha at Salmon Brooke Center. Per her request, there will be no calling hours and no service. Those wishing to make a contribution in her memory do so to the ALS Association or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
