Jane Kinney-Knotek, 69, of East Hampton (Middle Haddam), Connecticut died peacefully on July 11, 2021 after a two year battle with cancer. Jane was born and raised in Buffalo, New York, the daughter of the late George and Catherine (Martin) Kinney. Jane graduated from SUNY College Buffalo, Niagara University, and Western New England University School of Law. She spent her legal career serving the low income population while working at Communities Law Center and Statewide Legal Services of Connecticut. Jane also served as a tribal prosecutor for the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation where she represented the Tribe’s interest in family and juvenile matters in Connecticut Superior Court.
She is predeceased by her parents, George and Catherine Kinney, a daughter, Georgia, and brother and sister-in-law, Kevin and Elizabeth Kinney. She is survived by her loving husband Rich of Middle Haddam/ East Hampton, Connecticut, a son William Knotek (Alison) of Frederick, Maryland, and a daughter, Sarah Goncalves (David) of Marlborough, CT and four grandchildren; Graham Knotek, Charlotte Knotek, Hudson Goncalves, and Tanner Goncalves. She is also survived by a niece, Kathleen Kinney Mullan, (Niall) of Auckland, New Zealand; a nephew, Patrick Kinney (Michelle) of Ann Harbor, Michigan; mother-in-law Jeanette Knotek of East Hampton; and sisters-in-law Theresa Schlosser (Rod) and Robin Bova (Johnny).
Jane was a devote Catholic and enjoyed working the many ministries at St. Patrick’s Parish in East Hampton, including RCIA, faith formation teacher, lector, and member of the St. Patrick’s Ladies Guild. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Patrick Church Memorial Fund 47 West High St. East Hampton, CT 06424.
Friends may call at the Spencer Funeral Home 112 Main St. East Hampton on Thursday July 15, 2021, from 4:00PM until 7:00PM. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday July 16th at 11AM in the St. Patrick Church 47 West High St. East Hampton. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.
