James Scott Corthell, 68, of Berlin, CT and Fort Mill, SC, formerly East Haddam, CT, beloved husband of Lynn (Rickards) Corthell passed away Tuesday Dec. 27th at Hartford Hospital. Born Oct. 17, 1954 in Haverhill, MA, he was the son of the late Arthur E. and Gertrude (Gordon) Corthell. Jim had worked for Orthopedic Associates of Hartford for 30 years until his retirement. He was an avid bicyclist and rode over 100 miles per week. He was a member of Cyclepaths in South Carolina. Jim would do anything to help a friend in need. Besides his wife Lynn, he is survived by his sons Daniel Corthell and his wife Katherine Kelly of Higganum, Matthew Corthell and his wife Dana Caliendo of Bethany, his brother John “Jack” Corthell and his wife Joan of AZ, his two beloved grandsons Theodore and Liam, nephew Eric, nieces Kim and Heather, two aunts Marjorie Campbell and Marilyn Kent, many cousins, his granddog Mac and countless friends. He was predeceased by his brother William Corthell. Friends may call at the Spencer Funeral Home 112 Main St East Hampton on Friday Jan. 13th from 5PM until 7PM. Funeral services will be held Saturday January 14th at 10:00AM in the First Church of Christ Congregational in East Haddam.Burial will follow in First Church Cemetery in East Haddam.
