Helene Irene (Tibbals) Scherp

Helene Irene (Tibbals) Scherp, 84, of Sterling and formerly of East Hampton, widow of Arthur Scherp Sr. passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday Feb. 16, 2024. Born Aug. 14, 1939 in Middletown, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Mildred Tibbals. Helene had worked as a secretary for the East Hampton Memorial School prior to her retirement. She is survived by her sons Arthur Scherp Jr. of Marlborough, Jeffery Scherp of Sterling, Thomas Scherp of Sterling, eight grandchildren and many great grandchildren whom she adored. Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by her son Michael Scherp, her daughter Susan Scherp and her sister Karen Martinson. A graveside service will be held Saturday March 2nd at 10:30AM in Union Hill Cemetery in Middle Haddam. A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday March 2nd from 12 noon until 4:00PM at the American Legion Post in Marlborough on route 66.
