Gregory Stanley Dixon, 77, of Colchester Ave., East Hampton, died of complications from a stroke on Sunday, April 6 at Middlesex Hospital. He was the very devoted son of the late Arlene (Lagerstrom) and Stanley Dixon. A 1966 graduate of East Hampton High School, Greg served in the U.S. Army from 1968 until 1970 during the Vietnam War. He was recognized for his marksmanship with M14s and M16s. As well, he received the Bronze Star and the Air Medal for exemplary service to his country. Greg was a proud member of the E.H. Lions Association, VFW Post 5095 and the American Legion. He retired from Pratt & Whitney after 30 years as an aircraft inspector. Greg was an avid golfer and fisherman. He loved the water and enjoyed serving as a yacht captain for several years. Greg leaves to mourn many life-long friends who will fondly remember his tremendous mustache, infectious laughter, his very entertaining sense of humor and especially his truly genuine friendship. Greg’s life will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 15, from 10 a.m. until noon at Spencer Funeral Home 112 Main St. East Hampton, followed by burial at the State Veteran’s Cemetery in Middletown.
