Gary Wayne Carone

CARONE, GARY WAYNE, 69, of East Hampton, CT, and formerly of Rocky Hill, Connecticut, died peacefully in his home on Friday, February 10th, 2023.  Gary was born on February 24th, 1953 in Hartford, grew up in Rocky hill, and spent the majority of his life on lake Pocotopaug in East Hampton, Connecticut surrounded by his friends and family.

            Gary graduated from high school in Rocky Hill, then attended Quinnipiac University, graduating with a degree in Biology. He later joined his mother and father in the family businesses at Nutmeg Village Plaza in Berlin, CT for more than 40 years.  A proud owner of Nutmeg Farm Garden Center, Gary cultivated the absolute highest level of plants and greenhouse products for his customers since the early 1980’s.  He was known to both his friends, family, and customers as a person with a tough discriminating exterior and a perfectionist but a kind heart devoted to making the lives of the loved ones around him better.  Gary was also known as a passionate adventurist, sharing decades traveling across the country with his friends and family to ski, hike, kiteboard, mountain bike, and ride his motorcycles, all of which he did at the highest level.

He is survived by his wife Donna M. Carone and nephew Benjamin R Carone, and two great nephews Gabriel R. Carone and Ethan R. Carone. Gary was married for more than 51 years to his soul-mate Donna M. Carone with whom he shared countless amazing adventures.  He will be forever missed by those whose lives he touched. Services will be private.
