Ernest F. Scherp

Ernest F. Scherp, 78, of Colchester, passed away June 28th at the West Haven VA Hospital. Born June 29, 1946 in Middletown, he was the son of the late Frederick and Beatrice (Hallberg) Scherp. Ernest proudly served his country in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. Ernest was a graduate of East Hampton High School and AI Prince Tech in Hartford. He worked as a carpenter until his retirement. He is survived by his two sisters Florence Schimmel of Texas and Evelyn Goodnow of Illinois and two nephews Mark Schimmel of Texas, David Schimmel of Utah, and a niece Dr. Karen Goodnow Murphy of Illinois. He was predeceased by a nephew Eric Goodnow of Illinois. Friends may call at the Spencer Funeral Home 112 Main St. East Hampton on Tuesday July 8th from 9:00AM until 11:00AM. A graveside service will follow in the family plot in Union Hill Cemetery in Middle Haddam.
