Dennis Wall Obituary

Dennis Thomas Wall 77 of East Hampton passed away January 6, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer. He died peacefully with his family by his side. Dennis was born at Saint Francis Hospital to Helen (Nelson) Wall and Thomas Wall.

Dennis was the beloved husband of Mary Ann (Nichols) Wall for 56 years; dedicated father to Pamela (Wall) Oakes and her husband Timothy Oakes of Chelmsford, MA; cherished grandfather to Sarah, Samuel and Lily Oakes; and loving brother to Nancy Wall of Middletown. He also leaves his sister-in-law Julie Belcourt of Clinton and his brothers-in-law Robert Kay and wife Debby of Southlake, TX and Steven Kay and wife Kimberly of Fort Worth, TX. And he is predeceased by his brother-in-law Henry Kay. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Prior to Dennis’s retirement he worked 42 years for the utility companies starting with Hartford Electric Light, CL&P and ending with Eversouce as a chief garage mechanic. He also worked 40 years part-time at Spencer‘s Funeral Home in East Hampton.

Dennis was a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran and loved God and his country.

Dennis was a lifelong resident of East Hampton and a great friend to everyone he met. He served his town on the Zoning Board of Appeals and the Town Cemetery Board, and as an Election Tabulator Clerk for many years. Dennis was a member of the American Legion Post 64 and a lifetime member of the VFW 5095. He was also an active parishioner at St. Patrick Church serving as an usher and parish council member and belonging to St John Paul ll Council 6190 as a third degree Knight. Dennis was a dedicated New York Yankees fan and a UConn Huskies and Boston College Eagles fan.

Dennis loved his family very much. He loved vacations with them to Aruba, Florida, Cape Cod, and camping in Rhode Island. His grandchildren were his joy. He loved it when they came and stayed overnight so he could make them his delicious chocolate chip pancakes. He also made it to many sporting activities to cheer them on.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, January 15th from 3:30 pm to 7:00 pm at Spencer Funeral Home 112 Main St. East Hampton. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 16th at 11:00 am at St Patrick Church 47 West High St. East Hampton. Burial with Military Honors will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Patrick Church, 47 West High St.; East Hampton Ambulance, PO Box 144; VFW Post 5095, 20 North Maple St.; or the PBA East Hampton Police, 1 Community Dr. All organizations are located in East Hampton, CT 06424.
