David Sloan Obituary

David Sloan, 89, of East Haddam, widower of the late Mary Catharine (Bancroft) Sloan passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 30th at Middlesex Hospital. Born Oct. 8, 1931 in Newark, NJ, he was the son of the late David B. and Harriet (Jackson) Sloan. After graduating from Brown University, David proudly served his country as a Corporal in the U.S. Army. After being Honorably discharged from the Army, David embarked on a career in business development, working for several multinational corporations, assisting them build their sales efforts with an emphasis on international trade. David subsequently became a real estate agent and appraiser, serving Connecticut markets until his retirement. He is survived by his son David B. Sloan and wife Sandra of San Francisco, CA, his daughter Susan Fitzpatrick and husband Kevin of Norwalk, CT, and two granddaughters, Caroline Sloan and Eleanor Sloan. He was predeceased by his brother Jackson Sloan.  David loved music, especially opera, reading, being on the water, the NY Giants, he had a mischievous sense of humor, and delighted in the warm embrace of friends and family.

 A Graveside service with Military Honors will be held Friday April 2, 2021.  Due to COVID-19 precautions, this service will be private. When circumstances allow, a celebration of David’s life will be held for his beloved friends, family and communities. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Goodspeed Opera House at: https://www.goodspeed.org/donate-today.
