On April 28, 2025 Darrell Eugene Bartlett was called home to his heavenly father. He was 69 years old.
Darrell was a son of the late Lloyd Robert Bartlett and Karen Takeuchi Bartlett. He was born on July 27, 1955 in Kansas City Missouri. He grew up in East Hampton with his twin brother Duane and older brother James. As a kid he loved riding his bicycle with his brothers to swim at Sears Park or to playing baseball at Memorial School. Darrell was an awesome southpaw pitcher in EH senior league with several no-hitters. He and his team went on to the New England finals in Maine. Darrell attended EHHS and graduated with his illustrious class of ‘73 and in 1979 went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force. He is survived by his brother‘s James Lloyd Bartlett and wife Bernice (Coughlin) of Middle Haddam, CT and Duane Edward Bartlett, CA. He also leaves a niece Katherine (Bartlett) Blaszczyk and husband Jozef, and a nephew James Ryan Bartlett and wife Audrey (Kazokas) and five great nieces and nephews.
Although Darrell had been plagued by physical and emotional illness, he was always kind and respectful to all those he met. If he called you his friend, then he was a friend for life. A special thanks to all at Gladeview Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center for their care and compassion over these ten plus years where Darrell called home. Thank you also to Middlesex Health Hospice for their care in helping Darrell and us deal with the end of Darrell’s journey here on Earth.
Spencer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. There will be no calling hours and burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery on Saturday May 10th at 12pm. Donations in Darrell’s memory may be made to Gilead Community Services, 222 Main Street Extension, Middletown, CT 06457.
