Craig D Marquess

 Craig Dorrance Marquess of East Hampton, born September 13, 1946 to the late William and Elizabeth Marquess, he passed away peacefully in his sleep December 29, 2020. He was predeceased by his sister, Lynn and his son, Craig. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Kilian, daughter and son-in-law, Yvette and Stephen Leonard of Statesville, NC, stepdaughters Anna Kilian of New York, NY and Kasia Kilian of Middletown, CT. He also leaves behind beloved grandchildren, Alexis Marquess of Bradenton, FL, Madison Leonard of Lexington, SC and Joshua Leonard of Columbia, SC.

 Craig served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was very proud to be a veteran. He was an incredible historian and could sit for hours talking about, reading or watching the History channel. He was an avid motorcyclist, frequently enjoying long road trips with his wife Barbara to random places of the United States and Canada. He also enjoyed kayaking and canoeing with Barbara. He was a gun enthusiast and a movie buff and collector, at one point having a collection that rivaled Blockbuster. Craig enjoyed cooking and grilling and having picnics with his family. He enjoyed the simple things in life and though he regarded himself as an introvert; his kindness, generous spirit , ability to listen and help others in need always made strangers feel like a part of his family instantly. He as well as his warm and welcoming demeanor will be forever missed. Friends may call at the Spencer Funeral Home 112 Main St. East Hampton on Tuesday January 5th from 5:00PM until 7:00PM. Burial with military honors will be Wednesday Jan. 6th at 12 noon in the CT State Veteran’s Cemetery in Middletown, CT.
