Charles Walton Obituary

Charles I. Walton, 77, of East Hampton, widower of Beverly Ann (Spring) Walton, passed away at his home on Sunday April 28, 2024. Born Dec. 12, 1946 in Hartford, CT, he was the son of the late Charles and Gertrude (Grover) Walton. Chuck was a life long resident of East Hampton. Charles was married to his beloved wife Beverly for 42 years. They enjoyed traveling together and enjoyed many adventures. Chuck was a proud Vietnam War US Air Force veteran. Having served his country that he loved, he returned home and joined VFW Post 5095 in East Hampton. Where he was a life long member of the post. Chuck held many officer positions of the post including Post Commander and Commander of District 6. Chuck's quiet and gentle demeanor made him a favorite of anyone who visited his beloved post. None were more special to Chuck than his dear friends, Ted Turner and Roger Anderson who remained closest of friends and comrades of Post 5095. Charles worked at Pratt & Whitney after coming out of the military and then worked for the State of Connecticut at Central Connecticut State University.

He is survived by his daughter Linda Murray of East Hampton, brother Matthew Walton and wife Beverly of East Hampton, sister Annette Walton Kowalczyk and her husband Robert of East Hampton also his niece Melanie Walton Carden (Coley), three nephews Quentin Walton (Raquel), Michael Kowalczyk (Christine) and Robert Kowalczyk, great nephew Pierce Walton and great niece Lauren Walton. Besides his parents and wife Beverly he was predeceased by his brother, Michael and sister Mary Louise. Friends may call at the Spencer Funeral Home 112 Main St. East Hampton on Monday May 6th from 5:00PM until 7:00PM. Burial with military honors will be held Thursday May 9th at 10 AM in the CT State Veteran’s Cemetery on Bow Lane in Middletown. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to VFW Post 5095 East Hampton, CT 06424.
