Charles, “Charlie” Edwin Denler, 91, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026. He was born on May 3, 1935, to the late George and Marie Denler. He was a “Charlie” through and through - never a Charles - as well as a favorite, “uncle Charlie” to a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and a beloved grandpa to Tyler, Moriah, and Jack. Charlie crossed paths with his future wife in an unexpected way; while picking up his date, he was immediately captivated by her friend, Beverly, and her gentle presence, warm smile, and unforgettable blue eyes. They were married on June 1, 1957, and settled in Marlborough, CT. Charlie’s legacy is etched in the foundation of the houses he built as the owner of ‘Denler Construction”. He found immense fulfillment in overseeing each project from the blueprint to the final nail. For many years, he was a familiar and beloved face at the Marlborough Congregational Church, known for his leadership as a deacon and his beautiful voice in the choir. In his later years he became the primary care-giver for his wife, who had Alzheimer’s, supported continuously by his devoted daughter LauraLee and her partner Tara. Through every chapter of life Charlie’s big heart, sharp sense of humor, and love for telling stories remained an anchor for his family and a joy to all who knew him. Charlie leaves behind his daughter, LauraLee, and her partner, Tara of Old Saybrook; his son, Charles of East Haddam, and wife, Joanie of Greenwich; and his beloved sister Katie, of Amston. He was predeceased by his wife, Beverly; his son Scott; and his three sisters, Elizabeth, Beverly and Teresa. A private gathering to celebrate Charlie’s life will be held in the near future. In lieu of flowers please consider mailing a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association at: 10 Executive Drive, Suite 202 Farmington, CT 06032 Please make to Attn: In memory of Charles “Charlie” Denler.
