Carol Jane Shepard, 88, of Marlborough, CT, passed away on September 9, 2021, at Middlesex Hospital, Middletown, CT from COVID-19. She was born August 27, 1933, in Bronx, New York, the daughter of Norman and Nancy Shultis. She was the middle of 2 siblings, Richard of Blairstown, New Jersey; preceded in death by Doris. Carol married James Shepard of Williamstown, Vermont, on December 31, 1962, who is deceased. James and Carol enjoyed 39 wonderful years of marriage together.
Carol, a loving wife and beloved mother to two children, graduated from Hackensack High School. She dedicated her life to raising her children and supporting her loving husband. Carol was known for her quick wit and feisty spirit. She enjoyed nature, bird watching, hiking, traveling, puzzles, days spent at Lake Terramuggus, and a good trip to the movie theater. Carol was deeply loved by her children and was adored by her grandchildren. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Joy Shepard of Rocky Hill, CT; son and daughter-in-law, Wade and Karin Shepard of East Hartford, CT; grandchildren, Bradley Shepard of Hartford, CT, Jackson Shepard of East Harford, CT, Stephen, Samantha and Spencer Shepard of Rocky Hill, CT. Carol was preceded in death by her grandson Samuel Shepard of East Hartford, CT.
Rev. Bob Faulhaber, Jr. will preside over a graveside service that is open for all friends and family at the Marlboro Cemetery, which is across the street from 26 East Hampton Road, Marlborough, CT. Services will begin at 11 AM on September 20, 2021. Due to the pandemic, no public memorial service or viewing will take place at this time.
Prior to his death, Carol’s late husband Jim received a life-saving organ donation that prolonged his life for several years.
