Carl Herman Klatt, 78, of East Hampton, beloved husband of 53 years to Sandra (LaRocco) Klatt, passed away peacefully on Monday March 23, 2026 at his home. Born June 18, 1947 in New Britain, CT, growing up in Hartford, CT, he was the son of the late Herman F.. and Edith M. (Henderling) Klatt. Carl proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War. Upon his return, he worked in the printing industry and then began his own catering business “Carl’s Lunch”, serving workers in the Ellington and Somers areas for 44 years before retiring in 2013. Carl enjoyed cooking and taking care of his home of 50 years in East Hampton, especially his lawn and garden. Carl’s greatest joy in life was his grandson Ryan Andrew Klatt and watching him play sports.
Besides his wife Sandra he is survived by his son Andrew and daughter-in-law Erin Klatt of Chaplin, CT, his grandson Ryan Klatt, his brother Kevin Murning and wife Georgette of Middletown, his sister Barbara Gervais and husband Marcel of Wethersfield, and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service with military honors will be held Tuesday March 31st at 10 AM at the CT State Veteran’s Cemetery on Bow Lane in Middletown. To leave online condolences please visit www.spencerfuneralhomeinc.com
