Beverly (Calchera) Warga

Beverly (Calchera) Warga, fondly known as Bev, 79 of East Hampton, CT formerly of Stafford Springs and Tolland, CT passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday December 20, 2022. She was born August 11, 1943 in Stafford Springs, CT and was the daughter of the late Alfred & Alda (Bono) Calchera.  

Bev was involved with Emergency Medical Services over many decades and in many different areas. She started her career in 1971 being the first woman in CT to receive her EMT certification. From there her dedication to the field continued as she joined the Tolland Ambulance, then she moved to dispatcher at Troop K State Police in Colchester CT. She then transferred to dispatcher in Glastonbury Police Department in 1977 where she stayed until her retirement in 2015.  She served in many positions over the years at the Glastonbury Police Department retiring as the Victim Service Coordinator.  She was also the First Responder instructor for many years for the Police, Fire and Ambulance.  Bev was also an original board member at inception back in 1986 of the Critical Incident Stress Team and an integral part of this team until 2011, Bev last worked the Sandy Hook Tragedy as a mental health professional. Bev was always ready to help anyone in need – night or day she could be depended upon.  She was also on the Town of East Hampton Board of Finance, Colchester-Hayward Volunteer Firefighter for over 30 years, CT State Police Auxiliary Trooper, and Town of East Hampton Volunteer Ambulance Association Member.

Bev was a strong, driven, independent, caring, giving, fun, smart, intelligent “BADASS” that was always laughing and smiling.  She loved the sun, beach, summertime, and spending time with her grandkids whether it was playing with them, going to their games, or listening to their music. Bev was a devoted mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed.  Even though she is gone, she left a huge mark on all that she touched, helped, and taught and she will never be forgotten.

Bev is survived by her daughter Lisa Foreman and husband Marvin of East Hampton, CT, and her son Ronald Trapp Jr. and wife Mary of East Hampton, CT, and her son in-law Jon Lane Sr. of Vernon, CT. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Ashley Foreman, Jonathan Lane Jr. and wife Michelle, Lindsay Gosselin and fiancé Anthony Valenti, Kristopher Lane, Joshua Lane and fiancé Caitlyn Trudeau, Adam Trapp and wife Ashely, Lauren Trapp, and Kali Trapp. She is also survived by her great grandkids, Ben and Molly Lane and Peyton Leclerc.  She is also survived by her sister Marilyn and the late Joe DeCarli of Florida and brother Alfred (Tut) Calchera and wife Linda of Willington, CT.  Bev was predeceased by her eldest daughter Tina Marie (Trapp) Lane in June of 2022, and her grandson Nicholas David Gosselin in January of 2017.

The family would like to thank Chestelm Health & Rehabilitation Center in Moodus for providing comfort and care on her final days.

Friends may call at Spencer Funeral Home, 112 Main Street, East Hampton, CT on Saturday January 21, 2023 from 10-1pm including memorial service.  Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
