Benjamin Patten Obituary

Benjamin Franklin Patten 90, of Cobalt, beloved husband of 63 years to Rita Carson Patten, passed away peacefully on

Wednesday November 26, 2025 with his wife and daughter by his side at Hartford Hospital.

Ben was born July 16,1935 to the late Benjamin William Patten and Florence Waller Patten of Middletown, CT.

Ben graduated from Woodrow Wilson H.S. and proudly served in the United States Army. Ben was a friend of Bill W.

He was employed at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and retired from J.T. Slocomb in Glastonbury. In his younger years he was an

avid golfer, fisherman, and hunter. In his later years Ben would spend joyful time feeding the birds and chipmunks off his back deck.

Ben and Rita enjoyed many summers attending horse racing at Rockingham Park and Saratoga Raceway. He was a great fan of

the Yankees, UConn Huskies, and the hapless N.Y. Giants! Along with wife Rita his family left to mourn includes his

cherished daughter Colleen and her husband Ernie Golnik who was a much loved "son" to Ben. Also, his son Ben II, and his

wife Laurie of Troy, NY. Grandchildren Amanda (Andrew) Goyer, Cohoes, N.Y. and Brett (Sabrina) Patten, Atlanta, GA.

We offer our loving thanks to the entire staff, especially Kim and Maddy, at Cobalt Lodge Healthcare where Ben was wonderfully

cared for in his last two years. We also thank the staff of Bliss 5, at Hartford Hospital, especially Lainie and Brooke, for Ben's compassionate end of

life care. Your dedication to Ben and his passing peacefully means the world to us. We are so grateful.

In keeping with Ben's wishes all services are private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Ben's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
