Barry Edmonds Obituary

Barry Frank Edmonds, 76, of Moodus and formerly of East Hampton, beloved husband of Winnie Anna (Sorensen) Edmonds passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family.  Born Oct. 25, 1949, in New Haven, CT, he was the son of the late Norman and Gladys (Cruz) Edmonds. Barry proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict.  After leaving the Army, he worked in IT first at Travelers Insurance and then for Globe Pequot Press. He and Winnie had lived in East Hampton for 38 years before moving to his family home in Moodus 10 years ago. He was a member of Christ Church in Middle Haddam, CT serving on the vestry and in the choir.  He was a member of the Danish Brotherhood and Danish Sisterhood of America. He was always helping others, either with house projects or helping with taxes with the VITA program. In his later years he volunteered at the American Legion Hall in Moodus on Bingo night. He loved traveling with his wife all over the world but especially Denmark. 

Besides his wife Winnie he is survived by his daughter Roberta Edmonds of Portland, CT and a special close family friend Jennifer Graham of Manchester, CT. His sisters-in-laws, Berit Mann, Heidi Sorensen and Jean Sorensen, Anne Berte (Mike), his nieces Alicia Carofano (Kevin), Beth Tepfer (Travis) and nephew Kyle Edmonds (Amy). He was predeceased by his brother Peter Edmonds. Friends may call at the Spencer Funeral Home 112 Main St East Hampton on Friday July 17th from 5:00PM until 7:00PM. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday July 18th at 11:00AM in Christ Episcopal Church 66 Middle Haddam Rd. Middle Haddam, CT.  In lieu of flowers please donate to Christ Episcopal Church 60 Middle Haddam rd. Middle Haddam, CT or a charity of your choice.
