It is with a very heavy heart that I announce the passing of my beloved
mom,
Audrey May McGregor. Audrey died peacefully on January 24, 2025 at the
age of 88.
Audrey was born on April 28,1936 in Edinburgh, Scotland where she met the love of her life, Derek McGregor. They migrated to America from Scotland
where they were married and raised their family in East Hampton, CT. They were married for 61 years. Audrey was predeceased by her husband Derek,
her loving daughter Kim Umba and her son Craig McGregor. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Willmore, who will always admire her courage, her
strength, her laughter, her loving heart and her beautiful smile. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Robert Willmore, Samantha Willmore, Amanda
Delacruz, Richard Umba, Kelly Puida, and Craig McGregor, Jr. She also leaves behind her many great grandchildren.
Audrey had a love for life, always seeing the positive in people. She took the time to listen to her friends and family when needed and would offer
nonjudgemental advice when asked. She loved spending time with her family, caring for her numerous pets including fish, cats, dogs and birds. She
would never turn her head on a stray cat who would show up on the back deck and camp out until she gave in and took them in. Animals held a very
special place in Audrey’s heart. She loved all genre of music but her favorite was rock and roll. Many times she could be seen jamming in the car or
singing at the top of lungs while cleaning the house. She had a love for the beach, a good book, crossword puzzles and watching sports with her love,
Derek. Whatever team he rooted for, she rooted for too. Gardening was one of her favorites as well. In the springtime, she would be in the yard planting
and grooming and pass byers knew that in just a short time, the yard would be blooming with beauty. She took a lot of pride in that. She looked forward
to her trips to the beauty salon. The salon was like a second home. She loved listening to the stories the customers would share but mostly loved
listening to Tammy and “Sunshine” share what was happening in their lives and sharing her life experiences with them. I am forever grateful to them.
When her children were young she worked in the school system. She worked at Sinco in East Hampton for 27 years before retiring. Everyone she worked
with loved her and she loved them back. She made many lifelong friends there. Audrey touched the lives of everyone she met, whether friend or
stranger. She will be missed by all but mostly by her family. Her love, strength and kindness with remain with us always.
