Reverend Alice (Palm) Lester, 74, transitioned to her next adventure on October 15, 2021 at home in East Hampton Connecticut. Alice was born in Mount Kisco NY to Helge and Thelma (Campbell) Palm, moved to East Hampton Connecticut as a child, and attended Bethlehem Lutheran Church with her family. Alice was educated at East Hampton High School, Luther College, and Hartford Seminary. As a member of the Marlborough Congregational Church, she embraced such roles as Sunday School Superintendent and Church Moderator among others. When she was 57, Alice pursued her calling to ministry with the loving support of her children and church family. She attended Bangor Theological Seminary in Maine and graduated in 2009 with her Bachelor’s Degree in Religious Studies and Masters Degree in Divinity. She was ordained in 2011 and served first as the pastor for the Springfield Congregational Church, Springfield Maine, and then the First Congregational Church, Pittsfield Maine. Alice also worked for Katahdin Friends, Inc of Maine continuing her calling to help as a Direct Support Professional for special needs adults until she retired in May.
Along with her loving daughters Ellen and Laura, Alice leaves Ellen’s children Steven, Kristina, and Tim, her heart’s daughter Denise and her children Sabrina and Jake, and many dear friends and family in Connecticut, Maine, Minnesota, and California. The family would like to extend special thanks to Beacon Hospice and Marlborough Congregational Church Care Team.
A memorial service will be held at Marlborough Congregational Church on October 29, 2021 at 1 pm, and a celebration of life will be held at Hammond Street Church in Bangor Maine at a future date.
