Nick had such a great sense of humor and was a delight to talk with. We serviced his and Jean's car. He stopped in often to talk a bit. One very hot summer day Nick dropped in to the shop to say hello and asked if we could stop for a minute and come into the office. We did and what a surprise. Nick brought us a half-gallon of ice cream, bowls and spoons! We all sat down ate ice cream and laughed a lot. He will be missed.

My deepest condolences to the Battit family. I had the honor and privilege of meeting Nick when I first started working at Chestelm Health and Rehabilitation, shortly after he began his stay there. His smile was infectious, and his presence always lit up the room. I will forever cherish the memories of Nick; he was always so full of life and from the stories he told, you could tell how much he loved what he did. My thoughts and prayers are with the Battit family.

My sympathy to Nick's family and friends for their loss. Thank you, Nick, for the years that you taught us. Your caring and humor-- and that little twinkle of yours in your eyes--made me look forward to classes with you, and it has kept you in my mind and heart, all these years, Thank you for being in our lives. I first met Nick doing Meals on Wheels about 8 years ago. I soon learned that I needed to make him my last stop so we could have a nice long visit. The stories he told and the details he remembered always fascinated me. He also wanted to get to know my family as well, always asking by name how they were doing. My friend Bonnie and I would visit him at Chestelm every few months and the smile on his face when we walked into the room was infectuous . Our last visit with him was the day before his passing. We both were so happy that he recognized us, hugged us, and we all said we loved each other. Nick - rest in peace buddy! I will never forget you, you are truly one of a kind and like I told you 101, that's impressive!!

I spent my Childhood living next door to Mr. & Mrs Battit, two wonderful people. After I moved away and Mr. Battit (Nick) found it to hard to go fishing anymore on just about every Opening day of fishing I would bring him a couple trout. He would yell at me if I cleaned them first, he always enjoyed doing that himself. We always sat and caught up on the previous years happening's He was always so grateful and i tried never to disappoint him. Two wonderful people I had the privlege to know. Rest in peace my friend.

Going to miss my older buddy. Never knew what to expect when I visited him at Chesthelm. One time he kicked me out and told me never to visit again. Only to call me later and ask where the heck was I. When I took up oil painting, he wanted and became my mentor. Showed him everyone of my paintings for his approval. My heart is much lighter now that my real friend of the last 7 years is no longer here. My sympathy to all his family. I have lost a great and dear friend. Be in peace Nick!

He was one of my favorite neighbors growing up. I (Jessica Squier) used to walk up to his house and catch frogs hopping in the backyard or help Mr. or Mrs. Battit with any job they were tackling. You will be missed.
