Genevieve Haglund, 88 of Moodus CT, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, died at her home on Saturday, May 27th, 2017. She was born in Rocky Hill, CT on July 24th, 1928, daughter of the late Helen and Frank Dabkiewicz. She grew up on their family farm in Cromwell. She was married for 25 years to the late Joseph Harold Haglund of Midletown, CT. She is survived by her five children, Frances Dutch and Karen Haglund of Moodus, Mary Ann Stewart of New Haven and Joseph and Stephen Haglund of Portland; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Frances Wysocki of North Haven and her brother Frank Dabkiewicz of Moodus. She was also loved by many nieces and nephews and we can’t forget her beloved dog “Scout”.

She is predeceased by her siblings Otto Dabkiewicz , Helen Wichrowski , Bolo Dabkey and Sophie Smigel .

In addition to raising her five children she worked as a Home Health Aide and as a Sales Assistant at Dutch Oil Company in Moodus.

Genevieve’s greatest pleasures were spending time with her family, gardening and doing scratch-off lottery tickets. She loved animals and bird watching. She was a devout Christian who attended church at the Fellowship Community Church of Marlborough.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 22 at Willow Manor, 91 Moodus-Leesville Rd., Moodus, CT. at 1:00 p.m.    The family is planting a memorial garden in her honor at her home. To leave online condolences please visit www.spencerfuneralhomeinc.com.
