When Karen left CRMHC, the lights went out. And they never came back on. She was missed, achingly so. Her kindness, her goodness, her continual optimism permeated the agency. And now the world is a bit dimmer.
HERE'S TO YOU, KAREN!! A life well-lived!
Love, Pam

What a great lady! You are at the top of my list.-- as a very competent and respected boss, colleague, friend, and person kind to all.
It comes as no surprise that you would offer such wisdom and pure gratitude in your obit. Not to be forgotten.

Thank You karen. It was an honor to know you. Your worldview was filled with compassion and empathy towards others and always apparent. Such a joy to have a discussion with you. Such an inspiration to have as a leader. Our heart goes out to Bill and Ian. May the memories help carry you during this difficult time. Karen you will always remain a very special person to many of us.

I AM kAREN'S Aunt Dottie,, ( her Dad's sister ), I remember the time that you told me that you were pregnant. I told you to meet me at Macy's in N.Y.C. When we both arrived at Macys . I told you the story about my Mom buying my first maternity outfit . I told you that I didn't have a daughter yet. So we both went shopping and I bought you your first maternity outfit. I can see you now swimming in Rogers Lake and your BLack large dog ( Kip ) right by you side . You have been in my prayers . I have followed your advice and have donated money to the National Cancer Research Center .Some day we will find a cure.

Karen,
My dear cousin I’m sorry you had to fight so long against this terrible disease. Rita and I have prayed for you before each of our dinners. Looking back I remember all the thanksgiving dinner at your parents’ house upstate N.Y. and the summers at Rogers lake with our grandparents, families and friends. I remember how you were an incredible swimmer. The last time was at your dad’s 90’s birthday when Rob’s daughter sunk our canoe and you started to swim out to us. There was a time when I wasn’t sure what type of work I wanted to do. You talked me into trying social work. Soon afterward I was a social worker for St. Dominic’s Home (which I worked for 4 years). I later became a police officer which I served for 28 years. Being a social worker impacted the way I looked at and treated people. I’m glad that we were able to have lunch with Doug a while ago and that I was able to talk to you and Bill last week. I wanted to thank you and Bill for sending me a get well card. We will miss your smile, your concern for family, friends and people who need help.
Love always,
Charles, Rita Jeroloman and family

Karen’s values of kindness and compassion were without question. She was loved and respected by many; you have my deepest sympathy. May love sustain and guide you through these difficult times, and as acceptance settles in, may your cup runneth over with that love as you continue to cherish the memories …always.

Bill and Ian, and the rest of the Mackeown family; Sincerest condolences on the passing of Karen. She fought a brave battle, never complained and was always optimistic when i spoke with her. She was a shining example of how to persevere through adversity and i admired her greatly for that. You all are in my thoughts and prayers
